Rosa Centifolia
Originally from Asia Minor, the Rose has been celebrated since Antiquity by many poets, writers and painters for its colors and for its fragrance. True Queen of Flowers in the East, it is one of the most cultivated plants in the world. Rose essence is obtained by distilling the freshly harvested flowers by hand that very morning.
Among the Greeks, it was the flower of Aphrodite, goddess of love and the Romans attached it to Venus. The red rose is the symbol of love and passion while the white rose represents purity and innocence.
In France from the 18th century, rose was cultivated for its medicinal properties. For example, rose water is used on the skin for its softening, toning and healing power.
