Ebony wood is a precious wood, made from the ebony tree often found in tropical regions.
Its wood is highly sought after for its ''black'' color.

Since the Renaissance, ebony has been considered one of the most precious commodities that can be circulated on the sea. Its name is also at the origin of the term ''cabinetmaker'' used to name the craftsman who makes furniture. .
